Refrigeration Engineer x 2

The Company

Vitrafy Life Sciences is an Australian based, globally oriented Biomedical Life Sciences business, focused on the advancement of biomedical cryopreservation. 

This dynamic, cutting-edge business is currently experiencing an exciting period of growth and development and is looking for 2 Refrigeration Engineers, to join its close-knit Ballarat operation.  

The Role

Reporting directly to the General Manager Biomedical Engineering, the Refrigeration Engineers work closely with the Research and Development Team on a variety of projects, providing assessments and insights, creating designs and recommending improvements for Vitrafy’s new and existing products and systems.

You will also be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs and operational testing and assisting clinical staff and other stakeholders in the proper handling and maintenance of systems and equipment, as required. 

The position offers both permanent full-time and permanent part-time options for the right candidate, depending on individual circumstances. 

The Right Person

  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit, excellent written, and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree in Engineering Technology from an accredited program
  • 3+ years of industrial refrigeration engineering experience
  • Previous experience in the Biomedical, Scientific Research or Healthcare Sector will be highly regarded
  • Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures  
  • Experience in designing HVAC systems and using simulation tools to select components and analyse data on heat transfer and thermodynamics.
  • Experience in AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), 3D Rendering Programs, hydraulic analysis, and process/room load analysis programs
  • Design and technical ability to turn design ideas into quality products
  • Experience in conducting and completing technical design projects 
  • Strong facilitation, team building, collaboration, organisation and problem-solving skills
