This dynamic, cutting-edge business is currently experiencing an exciting period of growth and development and is looking for an experienced Industrial Design and Fabrication Engineer to join its close-knit Ballarat operation.

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the General Manager Biomedical Engineering, you will work closely with the Scientific and Technical Research and Development Teams on a variety of projects, providing assessments and insights, creating designs and recommending improvements for Vitrafy’s new and existing products and systems. 

The Industrial Design and Fabrication Engineer is also responsible for performing maintenance, repairs and operational/safety testing on products and equipment and assisting clinical staff and other stakeholders on the proper handling and maintenance of systems and equipment, as required.

What You’ll Need

  • An entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to be part of an innovative business
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other suitable Engineering qualification
  • 3+ years of industrial Design/Fabrication Engineering experience
  • Prior experience in industrial fabrication in manufacturing/processing environments
  • Strong knowledge in standard Engineering techniques and procedures 
  • Previous experience in Medical Device Design, Scientific Research or Healthcare Sectors will be high regarded
  • In-depth knowledge of CAD, AutoCAD, Six Sigma, SolidWorks and Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication, forming, and joining processes
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments – linear scales, ta:e measures, calipers, micrometers
  • Skilled in applying stock allowances for thickness, machine and welding
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and fabrication equipment
